CHEMICAL PEELS
Chemical Peel is a procedure done by your dermatologist to improve the appearance of your skin. There are several solutions that are used to achieve the results that you want. It is applied in your skin to remove the upper layer and reveal a new skin that is smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. Depending on the skin problem, your dermatologist can customize the treatment protocol to achieve the best result.
There are several types of chemical peels:
1. The Superficial Peel can be done during lunch break using mild acids to gently exfoliate the other skin layer. It can be used on the face, neck, back of the hands and chest areas.
2. The Medium Peel uses a stronger acid with deeper penetration to remove damage skin. This treatment can improve age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and melasma.
3. Deep Chemical Peels penetrate into the middle layer of the skin to remove skin damage like moderate lines, age spots, freckles and shallow scars. It should only be done by your dermatologist as this type of peel has many untoward side effects like rebound hyper-pigmentation and scarring.
